Documentation decides how fast you ship

A boilerplate with a deployment guide, environment file template and tests saves days. Listings state the documentation level; prefer 'README + deployment guide' unless you are comfortable reverse-engineering a codebase.

What to check before money moves, and what you must be able to prove before you list.

If you are buying

Read the licence before you pay. The licence named on the listing is the whole of what you are buying — a commercial licence is not an extended one, and neither transfers ownership. If the scope is unclear, ask in the deal chat so the answer is on the record.
Test everything before you confirm delivery. Confirming releases the money and closes the escrow. If the files are incomplete, do not match the listing, or the licence differs from what was advertised, open a dispute instead of confirming.
Keep the invoice and the deal chat. They are your evidence of what was promised, what was delivered, and on what terms.
You may use what you bought under the stated licence. You may not resell, redistribute or relist the asset itself, or pass it to another party as your own work, unless you bought exclusive rights.

If you are selling

You must be the author, or hold a written licence that permits resale. Attesar verifies who you are, not what you own — if a rights-holder proves otherwise, the listing is removed, the sale is reversed, and repeat cases end the account.
Describe exactly what is included and what is not. Most disputes here are not fraud; they are a buyer who expected the demo content, the fonts, or the support that was never actually part of the package.
Keep your proof of ownership. Source files, commit history, purchase receipts for anything third-party, and the licences that let you redistribute it. You may be asked for them, and having them ready is what turns a complaint into a closed ticket.
Set the licence deliberately. It is what the buyer is paying for, and it binds you as much as them — an exclusive sale means you stop selling that item to anyone else.

What goes wrong specifically with source code

Open-source licences travel with the code

Buyer: Open the licence files before you ship. A GPL or AGPL component can require your own derived work to be released under the same terms — AGPL reaches hosted software you never distribute. MIT, Apache-2.0 and BSD are permissive but still require you to keep attribution notices. If the listing does not name its dependencies and their licences, ask before you buy.
Seller: You may not relicense copyleft code as proprietary. WordPress themes and plugins that derive from WordPress are GPL, and a GPL dependency anywhere in the tree usually makes the whole work GPL. List every third-party dependency and its licence in the description, and ship the licence files inside the package.

Read it before you run it

Buyer: Review the source and its dependencies before deploying anything to production. Check for known vulnerabilities, rotate anything resembling a credential, and treat undisclosed network calls as a reason to open a dispute rather than a quirk.
Seller: Strip every credential, API key, token, `.env` file and customer record before upload. Undisclosed telemetry, obfuscated binaries, crypto-mining and backdoors are not policy violations here — they are criminal matters, and we report them.

If it touches personal data, the duties become yours

Buyer: Deploy this and you become the party responsible under the DPDP Act, GDPR or your local equivalent — lawful basis, purpose limitation, retention limits and breach notification are your obligations, not the seller's. Review exactly what it collects, where it sends it, and what it logs before it goes live.
Seller: Never include scraped datasets, contact lists, personal data, or content harvested against a site's terms of service. If your product collects or transmits personal data, state what it collects, where it goes, and what third-party services it calls.

Who owns the code I buy?

You receive a licence to use and modify it as stated on the listing; the seller retains copyright unless the licence is exclusive. Open-source dependencies keep their own licences.

Can I build a product on a boilerplate and sell it?

With a commercial or extended licence, yes. You cannot resell the boilerplate itself as a template. Check the licence line on the listing.

What if it does not run?

Test it while your payment is protected. If it fails to run as described, open a dispute and our team reviews it with the seller.

Are dependencies disclosed?

Sellers must disclose third-party and open-source components and their licences. Look for the 'dependency licences disclosed' field.
